Crushed Sonora Sunrise Sunset Chips from Mexico, Small Batch, Coarse Crush, Gravel Size, 4mm - 2mm
▏ABOUT ⧫ SONORA SUNRISE▕
Sonora Sunrise, also known as Sonora Sunset, is a rare rock that contains three dominant minerals: green chrysocolla, crimson cuprite, and tenorite (iron oxide). Sonora Sunrise comes from only one mine in the world, the Milpillas copper mine, located in the state of Sonora, Mexico. This mine opened in 2006, but was closed in 2019, when it became less economical to continue mining ore. Thankfully, many beautiful specimens were saved during the mine's limited operation; however, they are rare. Most specimens have been sold as lapidary slabs for designer cabochons and rough rock is scarce.
This particular small batch of crushed Sonora Sunrise is a perfect example of premium quality material. The green chrysocolla and the crimson cuprite are evenly distributed and are very rich in color when the material is wet. This material is a great choice for woodworking projects, since chrysocolla, cuprite, and tenorite are relatively soft minerals.
▏MATERIAL ⧫ SIZE▕
Our crushed coarse material is considered to be pea-sized gravel, ranging between 4 millimeters to 2 millimeters. This size is great for decorating candles, embellishment designs, orgonite pyramids, large woodworking voids, resin art, and metaphysical projects. This material is also a great gift for makers that are always looking for unique supplies.
