Ruby, a variety of corundum, is one of the hardest natural minerals with a Mohs hardness of 9. While corundum occurs in a range of colors, the two most recognized forms are ruby and sapphire. The distinction comes from trace elements—ruby contains chromium, which gives it its signature red to reddish-purple color.

This batch of crushed ruby corundum is sourced from India and is a high-quality Grade A material. It has rich, consistent color and is opaque, sitting just below gem-quality material that would have higher clarity. It’s a clean, vibrant option that works well for inlay, resin, and decorative applications.

Ruby is also the birthstone for July, making it a great choice for custom birthstone pieces or meaningful additions to your projects.

We prioritize providing high-quality materials for all artisans; therefore, our stones are natural and untreated unless otherwise specified. Photos may showcase both wet and dry crushed stone. Please note that wet stones can appear darker, which may resemble the finished look of the material after it's sealed with an adhesive.

We use the metric system for all size measurements, with units in millimeters (mm). Refer to the product photos for a visual guide using a metric ruler (cm/mm).
