The distinction comes from trace elements—ruby contains chromium, which gives it its signature red to reddish-purple color.

This batch of crushed ruby corundum is sourced from India and is a high-quality Grade A material. It has rich, consistent color and is opaque, sitting just below gem-quality material that would have higher clarity. Our crushed sand-sized material ranges from very fine to coarse sand, and is available in three different size variations: 1mm to 2mm (coarse sand), 0.25mm to 2mm (medium sand), and 0.25mm to 1mm (fine sand). Our sand-sized material is ideal for a wide range of creative projects, including woodworking inlays, memorial and resin jewelry, orgonite pyramids, ring inlay, resin molds, mosaics, terrariums, bezel cups, resin art, embellishments, and metaphysical projects.
