Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust. Many gemstones, such as amethyst, rose quartz, and citrine, are quartz varieties that have trace amounts of other elements within their crystalline structure. These trace elements produce the diverse variety of colors that we see in quartz.

Amethyst owes its violet hue to irradiation of trivalent iron. This particular batch of crushed amethyst is from Namibia, which is known for its clarity (little to no inclusions) and vivid, purple hue. Amethyst is also the official birthstone for February.

Our crushed sand-sized material ranges from very fine to coarse sand, and is available in three different size variations: 1mm to 2mm (coarse sand), 0.25mm to 2mm (medium sand), and 0.25mm to 1mm (fine sand). EXTRA LISTING INFO

We prioritize providing high-quality materials for all artisans; therefore, our stones are natural and untreated unless otherwise specified. Photos may showcase both wet and dry crushed stone. Please note that wet stones can appear darker, which may resemble the finished look of the material after it's sealed with an adhesive.

We use the metric system for all size measurements, with units in millimeters (mm). Refer to the product photos for a visual guide using a metric ruler (cm/mm).
