Opalite is a man-made glass that exhibits an iridescent and lustrous play of colors called opalescence. Recently, this stone has been popularized by the new Taylor Swift song “Opalite” on the album “Life of a Showgirl”.

This particular crushed opalite has a translucent white color and displays subtle blue flashes of opalescence, which can be seen in our chip, coarse sand, and medium sand sizes.  Unfortunately, the blue flash is not preserved when the mineral has been progressively pulverized into tiny pieces. This is the case for our fine sand and our powder sizes.

MATERIAL SIZE

Our crushed sand-sized material ranges from very fine to coarse sand, and is available in three different size variations: 1mm to 2mm (coarse sand), 0.25mm to 2mm (medium sand), and 0.25mm to 1mm (fine sand). Our sand-sized material is ideal for a wide range of creative projects, including woodworking inlays, memorial and resin jewelry, orgonite pyramids, ring inlay, resin molds, mosaics, terrariums, bezel cups, resin art, embellishments, and metaphysical projects.

* COARSE SAND - 1mm to 2mm: medium to coarse sand; narrow grain size distribution with similar size particles

* MEDIUM SAND - 0.25mm to 2mm: very fine to coarse sand; wide grain size distribution with an even mix of larger and smaller particles

* FINE SAND - 0.25mm to 1mm: very fine sand; narrow grain size distribution with similar size particles

EXTRA LISTING INFO

We prioritize providing high-quality materials for all artisans; therefore, our stones are natural and untreated unless otherwise specified. Photos may showcase both wet and dry crushed stone. Please note that wet stones can appear darker, which may resemble the finished look of the material after it's sealed with an adhesive.

We use the metric system for all size measurements, with units in millimeters (mm). Refer to the product photos for a visual guide using a metric ruler (cm/mm).
