Crushed Blue Sapphire (Corundum) from Sri Lanka, Fine Crush, Powder Size, <0.25mm

Blue sapphire, also known as corundum, is one of the hardest minerals with a Moh's hardness of 9. Corundum comes in a variety of colors, but the most well known types of corundum are sapphire and ruby. Blue sapphires are a rare gemstone, even rarer than diamonds, which is why they are so valuable!

Sapphire is considered to be a precious stone (the other precious stones are diamond, ruby, and emerald). This particular batch of crushed sapphire is from Sri Lanka and is very high quality (Grade A). Grade A sapphires are generally opaque - just one step below gem-quality sapphires that have good clarity. Sapphire is the official birthstone for September.

Our powdered material consists of mostly silt and clay sized particles. Our powders do have a slight grit to them. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.
