Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral that can come in a variety of different colors depending on which trace elements are present. For blue calcite, the trace element is copper. Calcite is a relatively ubiquitous mineral on Earth and is one of the softest minerals, with a Moh's hardness of 3. This particular crushed calcite is sourced from Mexico and has a light blue hue with no staining or impurities. 

MATERIAL SIZE

Our medium material is considered to be sand sized (fine sand to very coarse sand), ranging between 0.25 millimeters to 2 millimeters. This size is great for most woodworking inlays, memorial and resin jewelry, orgonite pyramids, ring inlay, resin molds, mosaics, terrariums, bezel cups, resin art, embellishments, and metaphysical projects.
