Angelite is the blue form of anhydrite, which is a mineral commonly found in evaporite deposits. Since its discovery in Peru in 1987, angelite has become a popular material for stone carvings because it is a relatively soft mineral with a Moh’s hardness of 3.5. This crushed angelite is from Peru and displays the characteristic soft blue color that deepens slightly when wet.
