▏ABOUT ⧫ SONORA SUNRISE▕

Sonora Sunrise, also known as Sonora Sunset, is a rare rock that contains three dominant minerals: green chrysocolla, crimson cuprite, and tenorite (iron oxide). Sonora Sunrise comes from only one mine in the world, the Milpillas copper mine, located in the state of Sonora, Mexico. This mine opened in 2006, but was closed in 2019, when it became less economical to continue mining ore. Thankfully, many beautiful specimens were saved during the mine's limited operation; however, they are rare. Most specimens have been sold as lapidary slabs for designer cabochons and rough rock is scarce.

The powder is brown once the material has been pulverized and would be great material for metaphysical projects. 

▏MATERIAL ⧫ SIZE▕

Our powdered material consists of mostly silt and clay sized particles (<0.25mm). Our powders do have a slight grit to them. Powdered minerals are great for filling in small cracks or voids, orgonite pyramids, resin molds, memorial and resin jewelry, ring inlay, resin art, and creating textured paints and pigments. This material is also a great gift for makers looking for unique supplies.
