Abalone is a marine mollusk that has a thick inner layer of natural nacre (mother of pearl), which in many species is highly colorful and iridescent. This unique iridescence makes abalone an attractive material and has been used for thousands of years in various cultures from all over the world. This particular crushed abalone was harvested from the coastal waters of Mexico and has an even mix of flashy blue, green, and pink iridescence. This abalone is a “must see” in person and is an excellent material for resin jewelry or woodworking inlay.
